Elite 2025 Georgia Tech target Jontae Gilbert decommits from Ohio State

One of the top recruits in the 2025 class has opened up his recruitment and he happens to be a top priority for Georgia Tech in the 2025 recruiting class.

Jontae Gilbert, who plays at Douglass High School (GA), decommitted from Ohio State this evening and his commitment is coming off of a visit to Georgia Tech today. Gilbert had been committed to the Buckeyes for quite some time, but he backed off of that pledge tonight.

Gilbert is a five-star player according to the 247Sports Composite and the No. 25 player in the country for the 2025 class. He is the No. 6 player in the state of Georgia and the No. 2 safety in the country.

His other offers include South Carolina, Alabama, Auburn, Colorado, Miami, Georgia, Michigan State, NC State, USC, Texas A&M, Florida, Florida State, LSU, and Pitt, among others.

Gilbert is a 6'1 175 LBS playmaker at the safety position and if Brent Key and his staff can pull off this flip, it would be quite the get.

Georgia Tech added to its 2024 recruiting class this morning with the addition of Indiana-based tight end Lane Wadle.

The 2024 class for Georgia Tech is currently ranked 24th in the country on Rivals and 23rd on 247Sports.
