July recruiting preview: Georgia Tech looks to build upon June momentum

Georgia Tech has a top 20 class entering the month of July

Georgia Tech had a great month of recruiting in June and they have a chance to add to it in the month of July.

The 2024 class for Georgia Tech is ranked 18th on Rivals and 22nd on 247Sports, but they are looking to move up. There are some Georgia Tech targets still on the board that could move Georgia Tech up.

Let's look ahead to the upcoming month.

TE Kylan Fox

Fox is one of the highest-ranked recruits left on the board for Georgia Tech, but he might be trending toward picking another school.

Fox took an official visit to Georgia Tech on the weekend of June 9th and he has also taken official visits to UCF and Florida State. It appeared that the Seminoles had the momentum, but in the last week, he has received several 247 Crystal Ball predictions from analysts to UCF.

Here is the scouting report on Fox from 247Sports Director of Scouting Andrew Ivins:

"A two-way player on Friday nights that has gotten snaps at both tight end and edge rusher. Has the desired measurements as he’s over 6-foot-4 and blessed with some additional length in the arms. Flashed on the defensive side of the ball as a sophomore in the Peach State’s highest classification, but started to bill himself as more of a tight end after a junior campaign in which he caught 25 passes for 326 yards and two scores. As a route runner, uses lanky stride to get across the field and find holes in zone coverage. Owns a bigger catch radius, but needs to keep improving the hands. Must also learn how to consistently find leverage if he’s going to be a true in-line player on Saturdays. As a defender, has showcased the ability to get around the corner and get home as he uses a nice forward lean to generate momentum. However, will need to keep progressing and learn how to formulate a plan as a pass rusher if his primary goal one day will be to pressure opposing quarterbacks. Overall, should be viewed as big athlete with some tools to work with. A case could be made that his ceiling might be highest on defense given length and burst, but had his moments as a pass catcher spring before senior season on the camp circuit."

Maybe Key and the staff can pull a stunner, but it looks like UCF right now. Fox has his commitment date set for July 4th.

Four-star athlete Kamron Mikell

Mikell is a four-star athlete that plays at Statesboro High School in Georgia and he took an official visit to Georgia Tech over the summer. He has two Crystal Ball predictions to Georgia.

Mikell tweeted recently that he is focusing on 14 schools and Georgia Tech is among them.

Four-star defensive lineman Joseph Jonah-Ajonye

Joseph Jonah-Ajonye is a four-star defensive lineman from Oakridge High School in Texas and he took an official visit to Georgia Tech at the start of the month. He has CrystalBall Predicitions to land at Georgia and the Bulldogs look like the team to beat right now.

Three-star edge Josiah Knight

Knight is a three-star edge from Tallahassee, Florida and he took an official visit to Georgia Tech this month. He also took official visits to Illinois and Missouri and it looks like it might be between the Yellow Jackets and the Fighting Illini. The Yellow Jackets have three edge players committed currently (CJ Jackson, Trashun Griffin, and William Depaepe).

Three-star offensive lineman Jameson Riggs

Riggs is one of the top targets on the board for Georgia Tech. The in-state offensive tackle took officials to Auburn and Clemson as well. This would be a big pull for Georgia Tech if they can land him.

Riggs is rated a three-star prospect on the 247Sports Composite and ranks as the No. 623 player in the nation.

Four-star cornerback Troy Stevenson

This could be a huge addition for the Georgia Tech recruiting class.

Earlier this week, Stevenson, who plays at Philip Simmons High School in Charleston, SC, picked up a couple of 247 Crystal Ball predictions to Georgia Tech by two analysts.

Stevenson took an official visit to Georgia Tech earlier this month and it seems as if they have the momentum in this recruitment currently. Stevenson is the No. 131 player in the country on 247Sports, the No. 7 ATH, and the No. 3 player in the state of South Carolina.

Stevenson is slated to make his commitment on July 9th according to his Twitter Account.

Three-star safety Christian Pritchett

Pritchett, who took an official visit to Georgia Tech, has set his commitment date for July 10th. Pritchett was offered by the Yellow Jackets staff back in May and Georgia Tech seems to have done a solid job in this recruitment.

Pritchett plays at St. Augustine High School in New Orleans, LA and other offers that he holds include Arkansas Nebraska, Duke, Indiana, and Marshall. At 6'3 180 LBS, Pritchett is a smooth mover in coverage and a willing tackler and would be a good addition to the Yellow Jackets' future secondary.

Three-star defensive lineman Alex Foster

Foster is a three-star defensive lineman from Greenville, MS and he is going to be making his decision this month. Arkansas, Baylor, Kentucky, and Mississippi State are the other schools involved in this recruitment.

Four-star wide receiver Isiah Canion

Canion is an in-state four-star wide receiver prospect who de-committed from Notre Dame today and has received numerous Crystal Ball Predicitons to Georgia Tech.

Canion is a 6'3 190 LBS wide receiver prospect that plays at Warner Robins High School in Georgia. His other offers included Auburn, Cincinnati, Duke, Florida State, Indiana, and Stanford, among others.

He is a two-sport athlete who also plays baseball.

Here are some stats and info on Canion courtesy of 247Sports Gabe Brooks:

2022: Played QB and receiver as a junior. Threw for 584 yards, five TDs, and one INT on 42-for-61 passing (68.9 percent). Added 15-32-1 rushing and 26-395-6 receiving. Produced six tackles and two INTs in limited defensive snaps. Helped Warner Robins to a 10-5 record and a Georgia 5A state runner-up finish.

2021: Finished sophomore season with 28-190-1 rushing and 5-51 receiving. Threw for 192 yards, three TDs, and one INT on 15-for-20 passing (75.0 percent).

Stevenson, Pritchett, and Canion look like they could be the newest additions to Georgia Tech's class if everything goes to plan. Maybe Key and his staff can pull a surprise from this list and make another splash.
