On Saturday morning, Ross Dellenger of Yahoo Sports posted to X that the University of Washington was moving toward hiring a new permanent Director of Athletics.

"Washington is targeting Tulane AD Troy Dannen to be its next athletic director, sources tell @YahooSports," Delleger's post reads. "Deal not done, but parties are moving toward an agreement. Dannen, a former UNI AD, has spent the last 7 years with coach Willie Fritz helping resurrect Tulane football."

Former Washington Athletic Director Jennifer Cohen was named to the same position at USC in August. Both Washington and USC are departing the Pac-12 for the Big Ten in 2024.

ESPN's Pete Thamel posted a story confirming Dellenger's reports a short time later.

"Dannen's football experience was attractive to the Washington brass, as he is in his fourth year as chair of the NCAA Football Competition Committee and is an executive committee member of the Football Oversight Committee," Thamel's story reads.

Dannen will be Washington’s first outside AD hire since 2004.

Neither Tulane or Washington are in action in Week Six.
