BREAKING: Jackson State Upsets Missouri

The Jackson State Tigers (1-5) men's basketball team landed a 73-72 upset over the Missouri Tigers (3-2). Moe Williams' team opened the season on the road with five straight losses. The weary and well-traveled Tigers entered Sunday's showdown as a 22.5-point underdog to Missouri.
Ken Evans Jr. led JSU with 20 points, four rebounds, three steals, and two assists. Jordan O'Neal (18 points) and Coltie Young (14 points) were the other two Tigers in double figures.
Jackson State trailed 37-34 at intermission before outscoring Missouri 39 to 35 in the second half to gain the one-point victory. The Tigers controlled the point, scoring 38 points and 12 second-chance points, and shot 45.2% (28-62) from the floor.
Missouri's Nick Honor scored 17 points, and Caleb Grill added 15 points in the losing effort.

During the game, the lead changed 11 times. However, Adams sealed the victory with a fadeaway shot that bounced twice on the rim before dropping in with 5.3 seconds left. Missouri failed to respond as the Tigers held on for their first victory of the 2023 season. The win was Jackson State's first in the 1-9 all-time series with Mizzou.
Next, JSU will play Georgetown at 1 PM in Washington, D.C., on Saturday, Nov. 25.
