NCAA reporter Stan Becton shares a look at the history of HBCU basketball programs in the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament over the years.

By conference, the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) has eight wins, while the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference boasts seven wins. The Grambling State Tigers defeated the Montana State Bobcats, 88-81, in the First Four round of the 2024 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament.

The 2018 match between No. 16 Texas Southern and No. 16 North Carolina Central was the only time HBCU basketball teams met in an NCAA tourney. Also, it was a classic contest between the SWAC and MEAC
