HOUSTON — Head coach Tomekia Reed has guided Jackson State (20-8, 17-1 SWAC) to its fourth-straight SWAC regular season championship to become the 2023 SWAC Women's Basketball Tournament's No. 1 seed. The Lady Tigers are once again poised to win their third-straight tournament title against a conference field they have dominated 65-4 in the regular season since Reed's arrival.

No. 2 Alabama A&M (12-6 SWAC), No. 3 Alabama State (12-6 SWAC), and No. 4 Southern (12-6 SWAC) all had a logjam at 12-6 in conference play. Although JSU exacted its 90-65 vengeance against No. 5 Prairie View (12-6 SWAC) on February 27, they must still be cautious of the Lady Panthers, who handed the Lady Tigers its lone conference loss 69-65 on January 14.

Rounding out the tournament's competitors are the No. 6 Bethune-Cookman (10-8 SWAC), No. 7 Arkansas-Pine Bluff (10-8 SWAC), and No. 8 Grambling State (9-9 SWAC) teams.

The 2023 Cricket SWAC Women's Basketball Tournament presented by Starry is scheduled to begin action at Bartow Arena in Birmingham, Alabama, from March 8-11.
