2023 HBCU Pigskin Showdown: Team Godfather Victorious Over Team Gunslinger
Team Godfather emerged victorious over Team Gunslinger with a 21-15 score at the 2023 HBCU Pigskin Showdown held on Saturday, Dec. 30, 2023.
Alcorn State's senior quarterback, Aaron Allen, led Team Godfather to three scoring drives, earning him the 2023 HBCU Pigskin Showdown MVP Game trophy. Brown, Miles College's defensive back, was awarded the Defensive MVP trophy.
Terrell Gardner, Alabama A&M's wide receiver, was awarded the Offensive MVP trophy for one of the game's most exciting plays. QB Allen passed the ball to Gardner, who evaded several tacklers and ran for a 60+ yard touchdown reception.
Delaware State kicker Jonathan Cardozo had double duty kicking field goals, extra points, and kick-offs for both teams. He won the Special Teams MVP award.
