All-SWAC Team Selections Led By Moussa, Owens, Dozier, Bohler | 2023

HOUSTON - The Southwestern Athletic Conference announced its 2023 All-SWAC First and Second Teams on offense, defense, and skilled positions. The All-SWAC First-Team quarterback selection is Jeremy Moussa (FAMU), with LaDarius Owens (Texas Southern) and Jarveon Howard (Alcorn State) as the running backs.
In All-SWAC football, Florida A&M's quarterback Jeremy Moussa had the highest number of completed passes (182), passing yards (2,416), touchdowns (18), interceptions (8), and QB efficiency rating (135.1). Among the SWAC running backs, Texas Southern's LaDarius Owens was the top rusher in All-HBCUs and SWAC with 202 carries, 1,369 rushing yards (averaging 124.5 yards per game), and 11 touchdowns. Kisean Johnson, the wide receiver from Alabama State, was the SWAC's leading receiver with 61 receptions, 829 receiving yards, and seven touchdowns.
The top defensive performers in the SWAC were Rico Dozier (UAPB) and Colton Adams (Alabama State). Dozier, who played for Arkansas-Pine Bluff, was the conference's top tackler, with 125 tackles and two sacks. Meanwhile, Adams notched 124 total tackles for the Alabama State Hornets in 2023. Among the First-Team defensive backs, Kendall Bohler had 13 passes defended, and Southern's Jordan Carter registered four interceptions. Omari Hill-Robinson (Bethune-Cookman, 4 INT) and Eric Smith (FAMU, 8 PBU & 3 INT) also made the list.
