On Tuesday, the New Orleans Saints invited former Southern Jaguars defensive lineman Cameron Peterson for a tryout at minicamp, according to John Hendrix of the Saints News Network. The HBCU football star played two seasons at Southern, recording 50 tackles, 4 sacks, and 9.5 tackles for losses.

Following the 2023 NFL Draft, Peterson signed a rookie undrafted free-agent contract with the Baltimore Ravens. The 6-5 and 280-pound defensive rush specialist did not make the Ravens' 53-man roster. New Orleans looked at him during this year's rookie minicamp but did not offer him a contract after the session. Fortunately, he must have impressed the coaching staff enough for them to extend another tryout invitation.

Peterson, a Houston native, was one of the SWAC's top players. He also participated in the 2023 HBCU Legacy Bowl in New Orleans, LA.
