Kamari Stephens has found a new home after re-entering the transfer portal in earlier this month.  The former Florida A&M defensive lineman has committed to Jacksonville State University, per his social media.

Stephens entered the transfer portal and decided to return to the Rattlers in May. To the surprise of many, he re-entered the portal and now will take his talents to Jacksonville State.

At 6-3 and 270 pounds, Stephens led the SWAC with ten sacks, one of the highest totals in the nation last season. Stephens received All-SWAC First Team, Phil Steele, and BOXTOROW All-American honors.

He joins a Jacksonville State program that'll play its first season as a member of Conference USA. Last season, as a member of the ASUN, the Gamecocks finished 9-2 with a perfect 5-0 conference record.

Stephens' pass-rushing ability will be a plus for the defense, as the two sack leaders for Jacksonville State combined for nine sacks.

The official departure of one of their leading pass rushers is a blow to coach Willie Simmons and Florida A&M, but the program's attention is on more noteworthy matters.

Simmons suspended all football-related activities indefinitely because of an unauthorized video by rapper Boston Richey recorded in the football team's locker room.

There's also the news about how Florida A&M has pulled out of the Orange Blossom Classic for 2024 to have more home games and maximize the value of season tickets.

With SWAC Media Day less than 24 hours away, plenty of headlines are coming out of Tallahassee, on and off the field.
