South Carolina State dismantles The Citadel.

On Saturday, quarterback Corey Fields Jr. led South Carolina State (1-3) to a 31-10 victory over The Citadel (0-4) by throwing three touchdowns and gaining 301 yards.  After the first quarter, the Bulldogs took the early lead 7-0 when Justin Smith-Brown connected with Fields for a 34-yard touchdown.

In the second quarter, Colby Kintner made a 25-yard field goal, earning The Citadel their first points of the game. However, with only 38 seconds remaining before halftime, Fields passed to Keshawn Toney for a 21-yard touchdown, increasing South Carolina State's lead to 14-3 at halftime.  Coach Buddy Pough's team took a commanding lead of 24-3 after Fields connected with Smith-Brown for a 35-yard touchdown and Zimmerman successfully kicked a 22-yard field goal. Tyler Smith rushed for 1-yard touchdown to complete the Bulldogs' scoring. 

The only touchdown made by The Citadel was caught by Cooper Wallace, who caught a 39-yard pass from Graeson Underwood, with 2:16 left in the game.  The Citadel quarterback finished the game completing 10-of-19 pass attempts for 138 yards and one interception.

Fields was successful in completing 19 out of 25 passes, with only one interception, and rushed six times for 55 yards. Smith-Brown, on the other hand, had three receptions totaling 75 yards.

The Bulldogs amassed 556 yards, while they limited The Citadel to just 202 yards on the afternoon.
