ASU sets 1st-Half tempo over JSU, leads 14-6

Alabama State controlled the scrimmage line and tested Jackson State's offense and defense in the first half. Jackson State's potent offense looked sluggish and lifeless.

JSU's quarterback Jalon Jones rushed passes and never looked comfortable with pressure from ASU's defense.

ASU's quarterback Ryan Nettles tossed two touchdowns in the 2nd quarter. He located wide receiver Jeremiah Hixon for a 35-yard touchdown. Nettles threw an 8-yard touchdown off a 12 play 89-yard drive to punctuate the first-half action.

Dennis Thurman's defensive unit has not hurried and sacked Nettles to affect his passes.

The Alabama State defense limited the Jackson State to 113 yards of total offense and 6 points.

Alabama State ran 43 offensive plays for 221 total yards.

Alabama State lead 14-6 over Jackson State at halftime.
