Trayce Jackson-Davis

The first day of the NCAA Tournament is in the books, and there were already multiple upsets. The day started with #13 Furman taking down #4 Virginia 68-67 before #15 Princeton upset #2 Arizona 59-55. The only other notable upset came in the late slate, as #10 Penn State dominated #7 Texas A&M 76-59. The #4 Indiana Hoosiers will try their best to avoid an upset in the first round, and our experts already explained why we love Indiana to win in this article.

Outside of that spread prediction, our experts analyzed the various betting markets and identified two Indiana vs. Kent State player props that are both worth wagering on today. Let’s dive into his analysis with odds provided by FanDuel Sportsbook.

Indiana Hoosiers vs. Kent State Golden Flashes Basketball Player Props Featuring Trayce Jackson-Davis and Race Thompson

For Indiana to win and cover the spread against Kent State, they’ll need big games from both their big men. Trayce Jackson-Davis has been phenomenal this season and was named to the first-team All-American team after averaging 20.8 points, 10.9 rebounds and 4.1 assists this season. Jackson-Davis is a mismatch for any team in the tournament, as his passing ability has skyrocketed this season.

However, when it’s all said and done, he is Indiana’s best scorer, and we anticipate a big day from the senior forward. He recorded 26, 27, 24 and 24 points in the Hoosiers’ final four games, so he’s been scoring early and often. The only time Jackson-Davis truly struggled this season was against bigger opposition.

He recorded just 10 points in Indiana’s win against Purdue and had 13 and 11 against Kansas and Arizona earlier this season. Obviously, he wasn’t needed too much in that Purdue victory, but he should have no issue scoring against Kent State, as they don’t have anyone on their roster taller than six-foot-nine-inches.

Not only will the smaller lineup clear the way for a big day from Jackson-Davis, but we think Race Thompson can also have a big day on the glass. He only recorded four rebounds in Indiana’s 77-73 loss to Penn State in the Big Ten Tournament, but he has the ability to dominate this smaller Golden Eagles squad.

Indiana vs. Kent State Best Bets for Today

The first best bet from Indiana vs. Kent State player props betting odds is for Trayce Jackson-Davis to record over 21.5 points. He’s surpassed this mark in seven of Indiana’s previous 10 contests and should have a big day with their season on the line.

Indiana vs. Kent State player props: Trayce Jackson-Davis over 21.5 points (-122 at FanDuel)

The second bet we love is related to Race Thompson and his ability to dominate the offensive and defensive glass against the Golden Eagles. Kent State grabs 29.3% of their misses on the offensive glass (97th in the country), but they only haul in 73.2% of their opponent’s misses on defense (196th in the country).

So, although the Golden Eagles can hit the glass hard, there are opportunities for the Hoosiers to get second chances on offense. This responsibility will fall on Jackson-Davis, but he’ll need support from Race Thompson. The senior forward averaged just 5.0 rebounds per game this season, but recently hauled in 10 rebounds in the Big Ten quarterfinal against Michigan.

Additionally, Thompson recorded 14 rebounds against Kennesaw State and 11 against Elon, indicating how he has the ability to take over a game on the glass. With how many offensive rebounds Kent State grabs, we think head coach Mike Woodson will make sure Thompson knows this is his game to control. Therefore, we think he will be active on the glass and grab six or more rebounds.
