BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The 2023-24 regular season concludes on Sunday at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall as Indiana hosts Michigan State. 

Coach Mike Woodson and the Hoosiers are riding a three-game win streak with victories over Wisconsin, Maryland and Minnesota. On the other side, Michigan State defeated Northwestern 53-49 on Wednesday. After splitting the series last year, this is the first matchup between the Hoosiers and Spartans this season.

Meet the coaches

  • Tom Izzo, Michigan State: Izzo is in his 29th season at Michigan State with a 705–291 overall record and a 343–168 run in Big Ten play. Michigan State made the NIT in Izzo's first two seasons, but has since reached the NCAA Tournament every year, aside from when it was canceled in 2020. Izzo has won 10 Big Ten regular season titles and six Big Ten Tournament titles. He won the national championship in 2000 and has eight Final Four appearances. Izzo was previously an assistant coach at Michigan State from 1983-95 under Jud Heathcote.
  • Mike Woodson, Indiana: Woodson is in his third season at Indiana with a 61-39 overall record and a 30-29 mark in regular season Big Ten play. Woodson has NBA head coaching experience with the Atlanta Hawks from 2004-10 and the New York Knicks from 2012-14. Woodson played at Indiana University from 1976-80, and was named the Big Ten's Most Valuable Player as a senior under coach Bob Knight. He was the 12th overall pick in the 1980 NBA Draft, and played for various teams from 1980-91, averaging 14 points over 786 games.
