NCAA Tournament 2024: First Four Results

The First Four kickstarted the 2024 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament. Games got underway on Tuesday, March 19 and continued on Wednesday, March 20. Here's a look at the results, as well as the first-round matchups for the four winners.

The first two days of the 2024 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament are in the books. On Tuesday and Wednesday, March Madness got underway with the First Four from Dayton, Ohio.

The top two games from the round both involved the No. 16 seeds. Tuesday night's game between Wagner and Howard was decided by three points, while the Wednesday clash between Grambling and Montana State went into overtime.

A less-than-stellar meeting between No. 10 seeds Colorado State and Virginia capped off Tuesday night's games. The First Four then concluded on Wednesday, with No. 10 seeds Colorado and Boise State battling.

Here are the results from the First Four in Dayton:

  • No. 16 Wagner def. No. 16 Howard 71-68
  • No. 10 Colorado State def. No. 10 Virginia 67-42
  • No. 16 Grambling def. No. 16 Montana State 88-81 (OT)
  • No. 10 Colorado def. No. 10 Boise State 60-53

Wagner and Colorado State will both be in action on Thursday while Grambling and Colorado will wait until Friday for first round action. Here's the schedule for the winners of the First Four games:

Thursday, March 21

  • No. 16 Wagner vs. No. 1 North Carolina — 2:45 p.m. ET in Charlotte, N.C. (TV: CBS)
  • No. 10 Colorado State vs. No. 7 Texas — 6:50 p.m. ET in Charlotte, N.C. (TV: TNT)

Friday, March 22

  • No. 10 Colorado vs. No. 7 Florida — 4:30 p.m. ET in Indianapolis, Ind. (TV: TBS)
  • No. 16 Grambling vs. No. 1 Purdue — 7:25 p.m. ET in Indianapolis, Ind. (TV: TBS)
