Summit League Freshman a Great Transfer Target for Iowa State

In this story:
The Iowa State Cyclones are just about a week past the end of their 2025-26 season.
During that time, Iowa State went 29-8, becoming a top team in the nation and reaching the Sweet Sixteen. However, the season ended short, as the Cyclones continued an ugly trend of losing in the Regional Semifinal, being defeated by the Tennessee Volunteers.
Now, they enter a crucial transfer portal period.
Iowa State is in need of a guard this offseason. Two of their key returners, Killyan Toure and Jamarion Batemon, are great players, but are much better playing off the ball rather than on the ball.
Greyson Uelmen is a great target for Iowa State on transfer portal

Toure is a screen-setting, defensive-minded player who can occasionally hit some shots, while Batemon is an offensive sniper who also holds up on the defensive end.
The guard core is great, just not complete. And that’s a big problem heading into the offseason. The Cyclones need to look in the transfer portal for a guard who can become a star and help replace Tamin Lipsey.
There’s an interesting option in the portal at the guard position, and he isn’t too far away. Meet Greyson Uelmen, a guard for the North Dakota Fighting Hawks.
Uelmen had a dominant freshman season. He averaged 16.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.4 assists per game, leading the Fighting Hawks to a solid 18-17 season and a third-place finish in the Summit League.

He had a season-high 41 points against the Denver Pioneers in the Summit League tournament, truly showcasing the immense talent he possesses at such a young age. Even in the conference final against the North Dakota State Bison, he had 24 points on 7-of-11 shooting.
T.J. Otzelberger used to coach in the Summit League, where he was in control of the South Dakota State Jackrabbits. It would make sense if Otzelberger is aware of and heavily interested in the freshman.
Uelmen is a great player. He has a great touch around the rim, is always calm under pressure and plays off of two feet. He also has a solid 3-point bag in his game, along with being a great defender and always in the passing lanes for steals.
Speaking of steals, Uelmen would be an absolute steal for the Cyclones in the transfer portal. He’s a great fit under Otzelberger, and could be the scoring and dynamic guard around the rim that Iowa State needs to take the next step to a Final Four run.
