The matches

Lee vs. Gutierrez

Lee started quickly, with a two-point takedown and a four-point near-fall in the first minute of the match. He added a second near-fall later in the period for a 12-2 lead, and scored a late reversal for a 16-5 win. Lee is now 12-0 in home matches. Iowa 4, Chattanooga 0.

Glynn vs. Cummings

Cummings got a takedown less than 10 seconds into the match and built an early 6-2 lead before Glynn scored a takedown in the final minute of the first period.

Glynn scored an escape to start the second period to tie the match, then his takedown with 20 seconds left put him up 8-6. Glynn added a takedown in the third period to wrap up an 11-7 win. Iowa 7, Chattanooga 0.

DeSanto vs. Murphy

DeSanto was in control from the beginning, taking a 14-4 lead through the first period. A near-fall with 1:14 left in the second period finished the match at 21-4. Iowa 12, Chattanooga 0.

Lugo vs. Smith

A late takedown gave Lugo a 5-3 lead at the end of the first period. Neither wrestler scored in the second period, then Lugo opened the third period with an escape, then added a takedown with less than a minute left, finishing with a 9-4 win. Iowa 15, Chattanooga 0. 

Young vs. Carpenter

Young opened with an early takedown, then built a 6-2 lead heading into the second period. An escape and takedown added to Young's lead, and three more takedowns in the third led to a 15-6 victory. Iowa 19, Chattanooga 0.

Marinelli vs. Nicholson

Marinelli had two takedowns in the first period for a 4-2 lead. Nicholson had an escape to close the second period, but Marinelli opened the third period with a reversal and added a takedown for a 9-4 win. Marinelli is 13-0 all-time at home. Iowa 22, Chattanooga 0.

Kemerer vs. Fortner

Kemerer scored a takedown in the first 10 seconds, followed by a four-point near-fall, and led 8-0 after one period. Kemerer had a takedown and a two-point near-fall in the second period. Kemerer clinched the technical fall with a takedown and four-point near-fall in the third period. Iowa 27, Chattanooga 0.

Brands vs. Waddell

Brands built a 4-2 lead in the first period. An escape from Waddell made it 4-3 after two periods, but Brands scored an escape midway through the third period, then got a takedown with 43 seconds left, and won 8-4. The best match of the day so far. Iowa 30, Chattanooga 0.

Warner vs. Jones

Warner had a 3-1 lead at the end of the first period, then opened the second period with an escape and got a point when Jones was called for stalling. Jones got an escape point to start the third period, then added a takedown. Warner, though, got the 5-4 win. Iowa 33, Chattanooga 0.

Cassioppi vs. Walthall

Cassioppi got two takedown points, then recorded the fall at 1:15. Not a bad debut. Iowa 39, Chattanooga 0.
