Kansas freshman phenom and style icon Gradey Dick can now add lottery pick in the NBA Draft to his list of accomplishments. The Toronto Raptors selected Dick with the No. 13 pick in Thursday’s draft.

Dick is one of the best shooters in the draft with a high release and smooth stroke and has an NBA body for a wing with a height that has been measured between 6-6 and 6-8 and 204 pounds. Many thought he was a likely choice at No. 11 to Orlando but the Magic instead went with Michigan’s Jett Howard.

Dick showed off his ability time and again at Kansas, breaking the freshman three-point record with 83 3-pointers made and shooting 40% from deep. Dick also became a better cutter and finisher at the rim throughout the season on his way to 14.1 points per game. Defense remains an area of improvement, but he did show flashes of being a dynamic rebounder, especially on the offensive glass during the NCAA tournament.

This is a big get for Toronto, who was 28th in the league in 3-point shooting last season and fellow small forward Scottie Barnes shot 28% from three in 2022. Don't expect Dick to crack the starting lineup this season, but he should be able to carve out a significant role, especially down the stretch of the season after he acclimates to the system.

We'll keep an eye on Dick over the course of the NBA season, but for more in-depth analysis, make sure to check out our SI's FanNation sister site All Raptors.
