Kentucky CF Jackson Gray Named ABCA Second Team Midwest All-Region

Gray managed an impressive .491 on-base percentage in his sole season at UK.

Kentucky center fielder Jackson Gray has been named Second-Team Midwest All-Region by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA), it was announced on Wednesday.

Gray, who transferred to Lexington from Western Kentucky ahead of the 2023 season, slashed .338/.491/.543 in 60 games. He collected 74 hits, including 15 doubles, six triples and six home runs. He drove in 33 runs, drew 41 walks and was hit by 25 pitches — the second-highest single-season total in program history — while also stealing 19 bases in 26 attempts.

Defensively, he made just one error all season in CF while recording 132 putouts, proving to be one of the best defensive players on the roster. Including his two seasons at WKU, Gray has made just two errors.

The Wheaton, Ill. native began his collegiate baseball career at Washington University, a Division-III school in St. Louis. After two seasons at two schools at the D-III level, he made the jump to WKU, where he played until 2023, when he moved to the SEC and UK for his final year of eligibility.

He was also named a Second Team Academic All-American, sporting a 4.0 GPA.
