Former Kentucky star scores 62 points in a historic performance in the NBA

Former Kentucky star scored a new career high in the NBA.

Two things that are associated are the NBA and Kentucky basketball.

No college has more former players in the NBA than Kentucky, as the Wildcats have 26 former players in the league. The Duke Blue Devils are the next closest team with 24. After the 2023-24 college basketball season you could see another eight or even more former Kentucky Wildcats join the NBA.

One former Kentucky Wildcats just had a historic performance in the NBA. Karl-Anthony Towns and the Minnesota Timberwolves took on the Charlotte Hornets in Minneapolis. Towns scored a career-high 62 points in this ball game. He had 44 points in the first half and then 18 in the second half. Not only did Town create a new career high, but he also made NBA history. Towns was the first NBA player to make ten three-pointers, ten two-point field goals, and make ten free throws in a single game. It's nothing new; this is what former Kentucky Wildcats do in the NBA: make history. The funniest part about Towns' historic performance is that the Timberwolves ended up losing this game 128-125 after a fourth-quarter collapse.

NBC Sports had this to say about Towns's big night and the fourth-quarter collapse from the Timberwolves, "Minnesota had problems on both ends of the floor. On offense, with Mike Conley out, their offense was clunky at times but bailed out by Towns' hot hand. The Timberwolves took the night off from playing defense — the team with the best defense in the NBA, a 109 defensive rating on the season, gave up a 125 offensive rating to the Hornets in this game. That set coach Chris Finch off postgame."

It's really cool to see Towns have a big night for the Timberwolves, and KAT is one of the most underrated players in the NBA.
