John Calipari shouldn't mess with the starting lineup despite the success of Rob Dillingham and Reed Sheppard

DJ Wagner and Justin Edwards need to stay in the starting lineup despite early struggles.

It wouldn't be hard to make an argument that Rob Dillingham and Reed Sheppard have been Kentucky's two best players so far this season.

They have done it all, including score, play hard defense, rebound, and dish assists to their teammates.

Some members of Big Blue Nation have begun to question why they have not moved into the starting lineup since Justin Edwards and DJ Wagner have been struggling.

This is an understandable argument, as Sheppard and Dillingham have played incredible basketball so far this season, but Wagner and Edwards need to get it figured out.

Taking these two out of the starting lineup would likely hurt the confidence they are struggling to find, thanks to a rough start to the 2023-24 season.

Kentucky fans need to remember no matter how well Sheppard and Dillingham are playing or how bad Edwards and Wagner are playing, all four of these talented freshmen need to be good for this team to peak.

While it's excellent that Sheppard and Dillingham have been really good this season, Wagner and Edwards have to get it going.

The other argument is we don't really know what it would look like with Sheppard and Dillingham starting for the Cats.

Dillingham has been in the starting lineup some early but due to injuries. Some players play really good basketball coming off the bench.

If Wagner and Edwards aren't playing better basketball in a few weeks, this conversation can be had again, but right now, it makes sense to keep the lineup the same while these two continue to find their groove.

If this trend continues as we get close to SEC play, then it might be time to start tweaking the lineup.
