Kentucky got a good draw in Joe Lunardi's recent Bracketology update

Big Blue Nation will like this draw for the Kentucky Wildcats.

Selection Sunday is right around the corner as Kentucky looks to make a deep run in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2019.

Knowing this Kentucky team, it's pretty clear which teams would be a good and bad matchup for the Wildcats at all of the different seed lines. The two teams that will likely be one seeds that Kentucky wants to stay away from are UConn and Houston.

Both of these teams have a solid defense, with Houston being number one defensively in KenPom and UConn at 17. The Huskies play better defense than 17th best in these metrics, which is why you want to avoid them if you are John Calipari.

In Joe Lunardi's recent Bracketology Update, the Wildcats avoided both of these teams as the one seed in Kentucky's regional was Purdue. The Boilermakers are a good matchup, as Kentucky's guards are better. Purdue is a really good basketball team, but when it comes to the way they match up with Kentucky, it would be a better matchup than Houston and UConn.

According to Lunardi, Kentucky would open the NCAA Tournament with the 13-seed Appalachian State. If they won this game, they would take on the winner of five-seed Clemson and 12-seed Richmond.

The two seed in the bracket is Marquette, which is another team that matches up well with the Wildcats. The three seed in this bracket is the Baylor Bears who have been playing good ball.

No draw is a good draw in the NCAA Tournament, but this is definitely favorable for Kentucky based on the way the Wildcats like to play.
