Kentucky Star Selected First Overall In Recent NBA Mock Draft

Could this Kentucky star be the first pick in the NBA Draft?

The NBA Draft is right around the corner, and the Kentucky Wildcats will be well-represented this year.

Kentucky has a roster full of young talent and these players could become the next generation of NBA stars.

Reed Sheppard and Rob Dillingham have been the two players who many expect to be drafted in the top ten of the upcoming draft, but could Sheppard be the first overall pick? The Ringers seem to think so, as in their recent mock draft update by Kevin O'Connor, Sheppard was taken first overall by the San Antonio Spurs.

Draft Digest had this to say about Sheppard's pro outlook, "His shooting ability alone makes him a coveted basketball prospect, but he’s got plenty of connective attributes capable of making a winning impact, too. He averages 4.4 rebounds — a fine number for an undersized guard — and 4.3 assists per game, a strong number off the bench, and something that could allude to a possibly larger role in the NBA down the line."

If Sheppard were to go to the Spurs, he would pair up with last year's number-one pick, Victor Wembanyama, and they would be an incredible one-two punch. Sheppard would be able to distribute and shoot when open, and this would help Wembanyama and his play style, standing nearly 7'4.

It would be a big shock to see Sheppard taken first overall in the NBA Draft, but having watched him play this season, his ability to shoot the basketball is topped by no one in the college game, making him such an intriguing pro prospect.
