NBA star Jaylen Brown wore the high school jersey of Terrence Clarke during the Dunk Contest
We are currently in the middle of the NBA All-Star Break, and the All-Star game included seven former Kentucky players, which is the most of any college.
During the Dunk Contest, Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown paid tribute to Terrence Clarke by wearing his high school jersey as he threw down a dunk. Clarke, who played for Kentucky during the 2020-21 season, was tragically killed in a car accident ahead of the NBA Draft. This loss broke the hearts of Big Blue Nation and the entire basketball world, as Clarke was loved by fans and teammates on and off the court. Clarke went to Brewster Academy and was born and raised in Boston. Brown, of course, has played for the Celtics his entire career and is a part of the city, so it makes sense why he would want to honor the memory of Clarke during this event.
Brown had this to say to reporters after the NBA Dunk Contest, “Terrence was like my little bro. Definitely a Boston connection. I wanted to have a purpose in everything that I was doing. I wanted everything to have a message behind it, and I think that’s what I did tonight.”
Brown finished second in the NBA Dunk Contest, beating out former Kentucky Wildcat Jacob Toppin, but he wasn't able to take down last year's champion, Mac McClung, who now is the back-to-back champion.
