This list ranking true freshmen in college hoops is disrespectful to Reed Sheppard

Reed Sheppard was left off a true freshman power rankings list.

We are now five games into the college basketball season, and one reason the Kentucky Wildcats have had a hot start is thanks to freshman guard Reed Sheppard.

Sheppard is averaging 10.6 points, three rebounds, three assists, 3.4 steals, and 1.2 blocks a game for the Cats.

The freshman from the Bluegrass State is also shooting a whooping 66.7% from beyond the arc.

The point is these numbers should have Sheppard listed as one of the top freshmen in college basketball, right?

Well, On3 made a list ranking their top ten freshmen so far this season that had both Rob Dillingham and DJ Wagner listed but no Sheppard.

Looking at this list, there are a few players on it that Sheppard has just flat out been better than early into the season.

In all honesty, while Wagner did play well against Saint Joseph's, Sheppard has been better on the year so far.

There is just no way in the world ten freshmen in college hoops have had a better start to the season than number 15.

Sheppard was a player who didn't really have the NBA Draft conversation floating around preseason, but his start to the year will get him into those talks.

If Sheppard continues to play the way he has in the first five games of the season, people will not be able to keep him off of rankings lists for much longer.
