What Might Have Been: Anthony Payne, Defensive End, Missouri State

Anthony Payne transferred from Kansas State after his freshman year and ended up at Missouri State - let's look back at this once heralded recruit.

Kansas State is set to have one of the most dominant lines in the Big 12 this year. 

Last October, the future of the line took a big hit when Anthony Payne transferred to Missouri State. 

Would Payne have made a difference on the 2019 defensive line dominance Kansas State is destined to portray? 

I would argue yes. Payne was a heralded recruit when he signed in 2016:

And, even though he didn't see the field much in 2017, prompting his departure, the film doesn't lie. Payne would, at a minimum, be excellent depth for the Wildcats this year, were he still on the roster.
