LSU Quarterback Joe Burrow wins Maxwell Player of the Week Award for Alabama Performance

It's the second time in 2019 Burrow has won the award, the first coming against Texas

LSU senior quarterback continues to rack up weekly awards, this time for his 393 yard, three touchdown day against Alabama.

Burrow was named the Maxwell Player of the Week for the second time this season for his performance against the Tide. The senior won the award for the first time earlier this season when the Tigers went on the road to Austin and beat Texas 45-38.

Burrow threw for 471 yards and four touchdowns in the Tigers win over the Longhorns back in September and has continued his stellar play to lead LSU to an undefeated record in 2019. In addition to his 393 passing yards and three touchdowns Saturday against Alabama, Burrow also rushed for 64 yards, making it the fourth time in the last five games the senior has rushed for at least 30 yards in a game.

The Heisman frontrunner has thrown for 3,198 yards and 33 touchdowns on a near 79% completion percentage, a percentage that would break the NCAA record. The senior also lies 149 yards away from breaking Rohan Davey's single-season pass yardage record and has already passed up Jamarcus Russell and Matt Mauck for most touchdowns in a single-season.

Burrow has maintained the fact that all he focuses on is winning, knowing that the individual accolades will come with the success of the team. Still, to have an offense ranked top-five in the country in scoring and yards per game is no easy task to accomplish and Burrow has been the fuel that makes the engine run in 2019.

"We knew we had an offense that could score on anyone in the country," Burrow said. "When you have the guys we have on offense, the points we've been putting up, the schemes we have, the coaches we have, I think you go into every game thinking that you're going to win the game."
