4-Star TE Tayvion Galloway Decommits From LSU

In this story:
Four-star tight end Tayvion Galloway has reopened his recruitment after backing off of his commitment to Brian Kelly and the LSU Tigers. Galloway revealed his decision on Sunday night as he begins looking to take his talents elsewhere.
“After reconsideration, I have decided to take a step back and de-commit from LSU,” Galloway wrote on Twitter. “My recruitment is now open. Please respect my decision and no interviews at this time.”
Galloway committed to LSU on July 23, 2022 while the Tigers were scorching hot on the recruitment trail, but with a loaded tight end room for the future, the Ohio native will now reopen his recruiting process.
LSU reeled in a commitment from four-star tight end Trey’Dez Green back in April. A Top 5 prospect in Louisiana, the 2024 two-sport athlete added to the depth of this position group for the long haul.

The 6-foot-6, 240-pound tight end/wide receiver in Green has been on a steady rise throughout high school, but a productive junior campaign has seen his recruitment take off. Green received several SEC offers over the last few months before revealing his pledge to LSU.
Green finished his junior season with 42 catches for 864 yards – 20.6 yards a reception – and 14 touchdowns, adding a touchdown in 11 of the 12 games he played in.
On the football field he’s a menace, but on the basketball court it’s much of the same. Green has asserted himself as one of the top players in the state due to his sheer dominance inside. With explosiveness and soft hands, he’s a rim rattler on a routine basis. It appears Green will try to be a dual-sport athlete in college and suit up for Matt McMahon’s squad once at the next level.
Green’s game on the hardwood translates to the football field. It’s his footwork and ability to be so lethal in the passing game that has him skyrocketing up the rankings.
LSU also reeled in three elite-level tight ends in their 2023 class with Mac Markway, Jackson McGohan and Ka’Morreun Pimpton. A position group that has no shortage of depth, Brian Kelly has set up this unit for the long haul.
The loss of Galloway stings, but looking at the Tigers’ tight end room as a whole with Mason Taylor and the three freshmen ready to make an impact, LSU is prepared moving forward.
