Brian Kelly and LSU did wonders with their 2023 recruiting class, but the 2024 cycle is shaping up to be something special as the spring recruitment period continues. With 11 commits to this point, the Tigers are creating a monster in Baton Rouge.

Currently sitting with a top five 2024 class, it’s clear this program is looking to make a statement for years to come.

Here’s a look into the class and a breakdown of each prospect:

Colin Hurley - Quarterback - Committed 11/4/2022

After shutting down his recruitment and committing to LSU, Hurley has been using social media to both recruit other prospects and promote the LSU brand. After a week-long visit to Death Valley, Hurley had the chance to take in a spring practice while helping recruit other prospects to LSU.

The gem of the class to this point, and for the foreseeable future, will be Hurley. The Tigers landed one of the top quarterbacks in the 2024 cycle and it's clear they know they have their guy.

Hurley reclassified from the 2025 class to the 2024 class as he pushes to get to Baton Rouge a year early. With the physical traits he attains, it's clear he has the chance to make an immediate impact once on campus.

Tayvion Galloway - Tight End - Committed 7/23/2022

The 6-foot-5, 230-pounder has all the tools to compete in the SEC with the developmental skills this coaching staff attains. Kelly has been working to add depth to their tight end room, and after a successful 2023 cycle, to bring in a player of Galloway’s caliber long-term is an immediate win.

Galloway has proven to be a threat as a blocking tight end and has shown flashes of his soft hands when becoming a pass catcher. Preparing for his senior campaign, he has all the tools to develop into a lethal threat for this LSU offense when his time comes.

Zion Ferguson - Defensive Back - Committed 9/4/2022

The Grayson High School product chose LSU over Arkansas, North Carolina and Florida State, among others, adding to the incredible stretch on the recruiting trail this program has had when he committed last fall.

Ferguson has proven to be a threat in the secondary with his elite ball-hawking skills, but also attains soft hands to make highlight reel interceptions routinely. After a productive junior campaign, Ferguson has the chance to explode in his final year of high school after asserting himself as a national talent in the fall.

Xavier Atkins - Linebacker - Committed 7/5/2022

A standout at the LSU Elite Camp back in June, Atkins really made his presence felt all over the field. Talking with defensive coordinator Matt House afterwards, it was clear the two could be a match made in heaven.

"Coach House was so great to work with at camp, and coach Sherman (Wilson) helped me so much with just answering questions and being there for me whenever I called him," said Atkins. "He always had time for me and always made me feel like I would be a Tiger."

Standing at 6-foot, 200-pounds, Atkins has great size for the linebacker position given he just ended his junior season. With tremendous strength and technique, it’ll be interesting to monitor his growth as he continues developing before heading to Baton Rouge in 2024.

Atkins is on flip watch. After a positive visit to Arkansas, LSU must keep their foot on the gas for the standout linebacker with tremendous instincts.

Maurice Williams Jr. - Safety - Committed 6/18/2022

The 6-foot-1, 190-pounder developed a strong relationship with defensive coordinator Matt House and defensive backs coaches Kerry Cooks and Robert Steeples. A 4-star, top 100 prospect, his recruitment continues to explode.

Williams was on campus for an unofficial visit with the Tigers in the summer where he ultimately felt at home. Ready to commit and shut the process down was on his mind for quite some time, leading him to pledge to Brian Kelly and his staff.

With his mother’s side of the family residing in New Orleans and throughout Louisiana, it didn’t take long for him to feel comfortable leaving Texas and committing to LSU. Visiting both Ohio State and Texas last summer, LSU took charge of Williams’ recruitment rather quickly.

His visit with LSU saw one-on-one time with both Coach Kelly and Coach Cooks, making him feel right where he needed to be. Ending the visit with a workout with Kerry Cooks, it added more fuel to the fire to commit to the Tigers.

Joseph Stone - Wide Receiver - Committed 7/11/2022

Standing at 5-foot-11, 180-pounds, Stone continues to add weight as he develops into one of the top wideouts in the nation. The 4-star gem has been in Baton Rouge quite a few times unofficially with his most recent visit being over the weekend, developing a relationship with the new staff and getting familiar with this new era of LSU football.

Being recruited as an athlete gives the Tigers hope that he can be a do-it-all player on this deep roster they’re developing, but shapes up to be a gifted wide receiver long term.

Kolaj Cobbins - Linebacker - Committed 3/3/2023

Once in Baton Rouge, expect Cobbins to take on the JACK role for the Tigers. With significant versatility, he has the chance to reach his max potential with defensive line coach Jamar Cain in his corner.

Cobbins is exceptional in open space. He can close the gap in the blink of an eye with his impressive speed, but his ball skills allow him to be in the right place at the right place nine times out of ten.

The 6-foot-3, 200-pounder has exploded over the last couple of months after leading Destrehan (La.) to another state championship.

Cobbins uses his physicality well for his size. With quick feet and the strength to back it up, he’s a prospect who has a chance to fly up the rankings even more by the time it’s all said and done. A 4-star currently, look for the youngster to make an impression as he prepares for his senior year at Destrehan.

Dahvon Keys - Linebacker - Committed 3/11/2023

With high-priority targets on campus over the last two weeks, Kelly and Co. made it important to get face time with the Keys. After a successful meeting with the Tigers alongside his peers, Baton Rouge felt like home for the youngster as he ended his recruitment process ahead of his senior year and committed to LSU last weekend.

The 6-foot, 200-pound linebacker has been on a steady rise throughout high school, but a productive junior campaign has seen his recruitment take off. Keys added an SEC offer from Alabama on Tuesday, giving him another monster scholarship this spring.

Ahmad Breaux - EDGE - Committed 3/5/2023

The Ruston product chose LSU over Duke, Missouri and Louisiana, among others, adding to the incredible stretch on the recruiting trail this program has had.

The 6-foot-3, 255 pound EDGE has become one of the state's top EDGE rushers after exploding in Year 3 with Ruston (La.). Breaux added an SEC offer from Missouri earlier this year as his rise continues.

Wallace Foster - Cornerback - Committed 11/19/2022

The 5-foot-10, 165-pounder has the intangibles to become the next member of DBU in Death Valley. Kelly secured a commitment from the New Orleans native as this program continues winning in-state recruitment battles.

Foster uses his physicality well for his size. With quick feet and the strength to back it up, he’s a prospect who has a chance to fly up the rankings even more by the time it’s all said and done. A 4-star currently, look for the youngster to make an impression as he closes out his junior year before blowing up next season.

Khayree Lee - Offensive Lineman - 11/5/2022

The 6-foot-5, 330-pounder has all the tools to compete in the SEC with the developmental skills this coaching staff attains. Kelly has been working to develop relationships early in the 2024 and 2025 cycles, clearly making an impression on Lee over a short period of time.

“2024 Ehret OL Khayree Lee continues to impress as a powerful, agile offensive lineman playing left tackle for the Patriots,” On3 National Recruiting Analyst Sam Spiegelman said. “Lee, who is down to 300-something-pounds, bends well and plays big with several knockdowns under his belt, especially with a running QB behind center.”
