Joe Burrow named SEC Offensive Player of the Week for second straight week

Burrow wins award for fourth time as a Tiger, second in 2019 season

The hot start for senior quarterback Joe Burrow continued Saturday night in the Tigers 45-38 win over Texas and Burrow was awarded with the SEC Player of the Week award for the second time in the young 2019 season.

Burrow, who went 31-of-39 for 471 yards and four touchdowns in the win over the top-10 Longhorns, is quite possibly off to the best start by an LSU quarterback in the last decade. The 6-foot-4 senior threw for 278 yards and five touchdowns in the Tigers' win over Georgia Southern in week one of the season.

Through two weeks of the season, Burrow ranks first in the country in touchdowns (9), second in passer rating (219.11), third in completion percentage (81.8%) and fifth in yards per game (374.5).

LSU has Northwestern State, Utah State and Vanderbilt as its next three opponents before hosting No. 9 Florida on Oct. 12. While Burrow has entered himself into the conversation for multiple national awards with his performance thus far, these next three games could go a long way in making his case at the end of the year.
