Following a school tying five touchdown pass record, LSU senior quarterback Joe Burrow was named SEC offensive player of the week for his performance.

Burrow has set all kinds of records with the Tigers over his last few outings. He set the record for touchdowns accounted for in a single game with six against Texas A&M, tied the record for touchdowns thrown in a bowl game with four against UCF and now has tied the record for touchdowns thrown in a game with five, set originally by Zach Mettenberger.

In Saturday's 55-3 win over Georgia Southern, the senior quarterback completed 23-of-27 passes for 278 yards with five touchdowns, leading his offense to the most points scored in a season-opener since 2000.

The SEC player of the week has been awarded to Burrow three times in his short-lived career as a Tiger, where he has a record of 11-3 as a starter. Burrow previously won the award for his performances against Auburn and Ole Miss during the 2018 season.

Burrow shared the award with Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, who tossed four touchdowns in the Tide's win over Duke.
