Report: LSU guard Ed Ingram reinstated by team after 2018 arrest and suspension

LSU offensive guard Ed Ingram has been reinstated by the team following a 2018 arrest that led to an indefinite suspension, according to a report from Brooks Kubena of the Advocate.

Ingram had been suspended from the program since Aug. 2, 2018 after the team learned he had been arrested for two counts of sexual assault.

LSU coach Ed Orgeron released the following statement in regards to Ingram’s return to the team.

“Our whole team and our LSU family welcomes Ed Ingram back," LSU coach Ed Orgeron said in a statement. "He is an outstanding football player, an integral part of our football team and family and we are excited to have him back with us."

An LSU official confirmed the report by Kubena to LSUMaven Friday morning.

Recently the team had been hearing positive news about Ingram's trial with Orgeron addressing the matter on SEC this Morning on September 9.

“We’re expecting to hear something this week," Orgeron said during Monday's appearance on SEC This Morning. "From what we’re hearing, things are going to be positive, but we’re waiting on the final say and that should be this week."

Ingram appeared in all 13 games as a freshman in 2017, starting in 12 of those games primarily at right guard. While LSU sophomore Damien Lewis has the right guard spot locked up, the Tigers could use some added depth at left guard with Adrian Magee and Chasen Hines both seeing time in the first three games.
