The dynamic LSU receiving duo of junior Justin Jefferson and sophomore Ja'Marr Chase are one step closer to taking home the award that goes to the top receiver in college football.

On Monday, Chase and Jefferson were named as two of 12 semifinalists for the Biletnikoff Award.

Chase has been one of if not the most improved players on the LSU roster, racking up 1,116 yards in nine games and a now program-leading 13 touchdowns in a single season. Chase leads the SEC in yards per game (124.4) and became the first player in LSU history to have multiple 200+ yard receiving games in a season after his 228-yard, three touchdown performance against Ole Miss.

Jefferson, who has been a favorite of quarterback Joe Burrow's for two years now, leads the SEC in receptions per game (7.1), is second in  touchdowns (11) and third in receiving yards per game (101.1). In total, Jefferson has 71 receptions for 1,010 yards and the 11 touchdowns through 10 games.

Chase and Jefferson also made history together against Ole Miss as they now have a combined 24 touchdowns in 2019, the most of any receiver duo in program history. With as a many as five games remaining on the schedule, these records could potentially be shattered by year's end.

Also in reach for both Chase and Jefferson, is the single-season LSU record for receiving yards (1,740), accomplished by Josh Reed in 2001. Reed went on to win the Biletnikoff Award for his achievements in 2001, the only LSU receiver to win in the program's history.

The finalists for the Biletnikoff Award will be announced on Nov. 25 with the winner being announced on Dec. 12.
