Junior running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire was named one of four semifinalists for the Paul Hornung Award Thursday.

The Paul Hornung award recipient is honored as the college football player that has shown the most versatility during the season, a category that certainly describes Edwards-Helaire.

Edwards-Helaire leads all SEC running backs in rushing touchdowns and total touchdowns with 12 through the first nine games of the season. Edwards-Helaire is fresh off a 180 all-purpose yard performance against Alabama that included four touchdowns and capped off by earning SEC Co-Offensive Player of the Week with teammate Joe Burrow.

Edwards-Helaire ranks No. 2 in the SEC in all-purpose yards with 131.9 yards and has four games in 2019 where he’s topped 100 rushing yards. He's rushed for 786 yards and 11 touchdowns on 135 carries along with 28 receptions for 202 yards and a score.

It’s the first time an LSU player has been nominated for the award since 2013, when wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. won it.

Lynn Bowden (Kentucky), Joe Reed (Virginia) and Wan'Dale Robinson (Nebraska) round out the four finalists for the Paul Hornung Award, for which the winner will be selected on Dec. 11.
