LSU Football: Five-Star QB Target Reveals College Decision

The No. 2 QB in America announces commitment to Tennessee, selects the Volunteers over LSU and Alabama.

LSU landed its quarterback of the future in five-star signal-caller Bryce Underwood in early January, but there was another player on the program's radar leading up to the decision.

That target: 5-star George MacIntyre.

The Tennessee native, who's taken several trips down to Baton Rouge over the last few months, quickly became a quarterback Joe Sloan and the Tigers pushed for.

The Bayou Bengals had a 1A and 1B plan: Underwood or MacIntyre.

After securing Underwood, it halted any chances of the Tigers landing MacIntyre, but now the five-star has revealed his commitment to the Tennessee Volunteers.

MacIntyre had a final three schools consisting of LSU, Alabama and Tennessee. Now, the elite-level 2025 prospect will remain home and suit up for the Volunteers.

When it comes to the purple and gold, the LSU football staff sent shockwaves across the college football recruiting scene after landing a commitment from five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood in early January.

A program-changing prospect, the No. 1 overall player in the 2025 class is a Tiger.

Now, the Bayou Bengals are keeping their foot on the gas for Underwood's services. LSU's Joe Sloan and Frank Wilson took the trip up to Michigan on Friday to visit with Underwood.

Underwood's commitment is one of the biggest recruiting victories of the modern era and this program is making sure to continue pushing for him after his pledge.

LSU has reached elite status in the 2025 cycle, with Underwood joining Harlem Berry (No. 1 RB in America) and Dakorien Moore (No. 1 WR in America) in the class.

It's a cycle that will move the needle for years to come. The trio of five-star, No. 1 prospects at their position will look to rejuvenate the program for the long haul.

When it comes to Underwood, his pledge is as big as it gets. The 6-foot-3, 210-pounder will arrive in Baton Rouge as one of the top prospects of all-time.

LSU worked tirelessly in the recruitment of the gifted prospect, and after several visits to Baton Rouge in 2023, it set the table for a commitment from the nation's No. 1 recruit.

Underwood has kept his recruitment close to the vest, but his actions have spoken volumes. He's made four unofficial visits down South with his family.

Of note, two of the trips came on family holidays including his mother's birthday and his parents anniversary.

Along with his actions, quarterbacks coach Joe Sloan has done his due diligence in this one. He's rolled out the red carpet on several occasions and it's done wonders.

Now, after a significant push from the Bayou Bengals, LSU has won out for his services and are keeping their foot on the gas.

The Underwood Sweepstakes will remain a battle with him not putting pen to paper until December, but the Tigers have a verbal pledge from one of the top recruits of all-time.

The Tigers also reeled in a commitment from the No. 1 running back in America this month after Harlem Berry revealed his pledge on Jan. 3.

The 5-foot-11, 175-pound speedster out of St. Martin's Episcopal in Metairie (La.) is another program-changing player who will only add to the embarrassment of riches in LSU's running back room for the foreseeable future.

Frank Wilson did it again on "The Trail". The recruiting guru rarely swings and misses on the top players in the Bayou State, specifically at the running back position, and once again worked his magic with this one.

Berry unofficially visited LSU on two separate occasions this fall after making game day visits for both the Florida and Auburn matchups in Death Valley. He was accompanied by Underwood for the visit.

Other prospects in for the game were 4-star LSU commit Keylan Moses, 5-star LSU commit Dakorien Moore and 5-star LSU target (now commit) Bryce Underwood with it becoming a star-studded event in Baton Rouge.

The five-star trio of Underwood, Berry and Moore has catapulted LSU's 2025 recruiting class to the No. 1 class in the cycle.

Kelly and Co. are assembling something special in Baton Rouge for the future.
