LSU Football: Three 2024 Louisiana Prospects to Monitor

The Tigers have seven of the state's top 10 prospects committed, foot on the gas for the final three.

Brian Kelly and his coaching staff are in the midst of a monster summer on the recruiting trail, but the success has specifically come in the state of Louisiana.

Kelly has made it a point to “keep the best in the boot,” and after securing seven of the state’s top 10 prospects, three more remain high-priority targets.

The goal all along has been to lock down Louisiana and make the state a focal point on the recruiting trail. Of course, Kelly has gone nationally as well to bring the best of the best to Baton Rouge, but the LSU program has thrived when securing the state’s best players and this coaching staff knows that.

Moving forward in the 2024 recruiting class, there remain several spots left, but three of the top targets on the 2024 Big Board reside in Louisiana.

A look into the final three players LSU must secure to gain commitments from the Top 10 players in the state:

Dominick McKinley - No. 1 Player in Louisiana

The five-star defensive lineman continues trimming his list ahead of his senior season with the Tigers being in the fold. Along with LSU, Oklahoma, Georgia, Texas, Ohio State and Texas A&M made the cut in his final six schools.

Kelly and Co. will have their work cut out for them in this one. The top prep player in Louisiana, the drastic growth McKinley has made over the last 14 months has been significant.

The 6-foot-6, 285-pound defensive lineman has been a high-riser over the last few months from a rankings perspective as well. A Lafayette, La. native, he’s a player who is at the top of the Tigers’ 2024 board.

McKinley has been on LSU’s campus twice this year and will certainly make his way down to Baton Rouge this fall with the Tigers looking to continue solidifying their position in his recruitment.

A physical specimen with tremendous potential at the next level, the Tigers will continue keeping their foot on the gas for the five-star prospect.

Wardell Mack - No. 4 Player in Louisiana

Mack’s recruitment continues to be a rollercoaster ride. LSU has felt in control for most of the offseason, but the Texas Longhorns remain a serious threat in his recruiting process as the summer winds down.

The top cornerback in Louisiana, Mack is a high-priority target as July moves on. At the end of the month, LSU will hold their “Bayou Splash” event, a pool party in Baton Rouge where the top targets on their 2024 and 2025 Big Boards will head to town. If Mack gets to town, it’ll be a positive sign for this program in his recruitment.

LSU and Texas remain serious contenders with Florida and Florida State rounding out his Top 4 schools. The John Ehret (Marrero, La.) product will be a hot commodity on the recruiting trail heading into the fall.

Tylen Singleton - No. 5 Player in Louisiana

Singleton’s recruitment has been relatively quiet. The Many, La. native has kept his process close to vest, but with major programs pushing for the top linebacker in the state, he’s a big-time name on the market.

Along with LSU, we’ve seen Arkansas Tennessee and Texas A&M jump into his recruitment. For LSU, it’s the same situation as Mack. If this program can get Singleton on campus for their Bayou Splash event at the end of July, the visit could go a long way in his recruiting process moving forward.

The Tigers should get an official visit from Singleton later this fall/winter as he narrows his list in order to make a decision. The elite-level linebacker comes from a great program in Many with some serious star power being developed.
