Brian Kelly and the LSU Tigers fill a position of need after securing a commitment from Top 10 JUCO DL Shone Washington, he revealed on Monday evening.

After a visit to Baton Rouge over the weekend, Washington elected to shutdown his recruitment process with the purple and gold receiving his pledge.

The New Orleans native was once committed to the Bayou Bengals out of high school, but elected to reopen his recruitment before pledging to the Georgia Bulldogs in 2022.

After a stint in Athens, Washington entered the NCAA Transfer Portal before going the JUCO route in 2023. He will have three years of eligibility remaining.

Now, the top defensive lineman is standing out at East Mississippi Community College and bouncing back to a four-year institution.

Washington made the trip to Baton Rouge on Saturday for his second game day visit this fall. Despite his EMCC squad gearing up for the playoffs, he remained keeping tabs on LSU with a decision in mind.

Sources familiar with the situation believed Washington would wait until his season ends with East Mississippi before revealing a decision, but LSU rolled out the red carpet on Saturday with a commitment now being revealed.

The Tigers are also in position for the No. 1 defensive linemen at the JUCO level, Jaden Hamlin.

Over the weekend, Washington was joined by Hamlin who made the trek to Baton Rouge as well.

LSU will have to balance several different factors if they elect to take two JUCO defensive linemen, but as it stands, Washington and Hamlin are at the top of their list.

Hamlin, who has a plethora of potential suitors, will continue taking visits before shutting things down, but sources familiar with the situation believe Saturday's visit went well.

Brian Kelly and his staff must balance the 85-man scholarship limit during the offseason. With several 2024 commitments preparing to make their way to Baton Rouge, JUCO targets and Transfer Portal players on their radar, the Tigers will have several avenues to keep tabs on while constructing the roster.
