LSU Football: Tigers Land Commitment From 5-Star OT Weston Davis

Davis flips his commitment from Texas A&M to LSU, Bayou Bengals make a monster move on "The Trail".

LSU football has pulled off one of the biggest moves on the recruiting trail in the 2024 cycle. Five-star offensive tackle Weston Davis has flipped his commitment from Texas A&M to LSU, he announced via social media on Thursday night.

LSU offensive line coach Brad Davis made the trip to Beaumont (Tex.) on Thursday for a visit with Davis. Shortly after, the decision was made.

Davis is a Tiger.

The No. 3 offensive tackle in America joins a 2024 recruiting class that was in need of a major splash. Now, LSU receives the exclamation point to the current cycle.

The Top 20 prospect in the country had remained committed to Jimbo Fisher and Texas A&M since the summer, but LSU’s coaching staff continued to push for the coveted offensive lineman.

With the commitment of the 6-foot-5, 285-pounder, the Tigers have now reeled in a five-star offensive lineman in the last three recruiting cycles with Will Campbell (2022) and Lance Heard (2023) joining Davis.

It’s as big of a move on the recruiting trail as LSU could have made this year as Kelly and Co. continue making moves in order to bolster this roster for the long haul.

We’ve seen the Tigers land three 2024 commitments in the last five days with Davis sitting alongside prized cornerbacks Bernard Causey and PJ Woodland.

Bernard Causey: Flips From Ole Miss to LSU

The 6-foot, 160 pounder out of New Orleans, La. reopened his recruitment on Monday night after remaining committed to the Ole Miss Rebels since June. Kelly and his recruiting staff made a push over the last few weeks for Causey. After losing a commitment from four-star cornerback Ondre Evans last week, LSU has made sure to do its work in order to land reinforcements.

PJ Woodland: Flipped From Mississippi State to LSU

The Mississippi native backed off of his pledge to Mississippi State earlier this month and wasted no time in revealing his commitment to the Tigers. A player who was trending towards the Ole Miss Rebels, LSU once again got him back down to campus with this program ultimately sealing the deal.

Woodland was in Baton Rouge for the Tigers’ victory over Auburn last weekend before making the trek back to Louisiana for the Week 8 contest against Army.

After a week on the market, LSU made sure to close the coveted talent and lock him in with the Tigers.

The 6-foot, 160-pounder fills a void in this LSU defense for the future with those within the program intrigued with his long-term potential. Woodland is in the midst of an impressive senior campaign with his Oak Grove program handling business.
