LSU Football: Tigers Trending For No. 1 Quarterback in America
The LSU football staff continues turning up the heat for the No. 1 player in the 2025 class, Bryce Underwood.
The top signal-caller in America, Underwood has been wined and dined by the top programs in college football, but now we're entering crunch time.
Underwood has a commitment date locked in for January 6, 2024 with a final seven schools consisting of Alabama, Colorado, Michigan, LSU, Oregon, Penn State, and Florida State.
Over the last few months, those familiar with the recruitment of Underwood believed this would come down to an LSU vs. Michigan battle, but last week saw significant change in the Wolverines' plans.

The crystal balls are beginning to come in on Underwood with all four of them projecting the No. 1 player in America to take his talents to LSU.
247Sports Recruiting Experts Steve Wiltfong and Allen Triue both logged predictions on Tuesday for Underwood to suit up in the purple and gold.
Last week, a pair of On3 recruiting analysts also dropped in crystal balls for Underwood to commit to LSU on Jan. 6, his commitment date.
Now, with the Tigers gaining momentum in his recruitment, who remains the "competition" on the outside? Is it still Michigan?
Michigan Takes Another Quarterback?
The Wolverines dove into several signal-callers in the 2025 class. It's clear Underwood is at the top of their list, but it didn't stop this program from doing their due diligence with other top players in the country.
Michigan hosted Florida four-star quarterback Carter Smith for a visit against Purdue on Nov. 4. Then, just 10 days later, Smith revealed his commitment to the Wolverines.
What does that mean for Underwood and his status with Michigan moving forward? Time will tell, but it certainly appears the Wolverines could be looking elsewhere at quarterback.
Underwood has taken several visits this fall including a trip down to Baton Rouge as well as a game day visit to Colorado for their rivalry matchup against Colorado State.
Where does Michigan come into the mix? Well, Underwood never took a visit to Ann Arbor this season despite residing just 20 minutes from campus. Another piece to monitor in the Underwood sweepstakes.
Clearly, the No. 1 player in America remains on the Wolverines' Big Board and they will remain in contact with the top player in the 2025 class, but dominoes continue falling in opposite directions as a decision inches closer.
LSU Remains the Team to Beat:
Sources familiar with the situation believe the Bayou Bengals remain the team to beat when it comes to Underwood's services and the crystal balls are beginning to prove that.
He's taken several visits to LSU, including a game day visit this fall where the Tigers began separating themselves from the pack.
We've now seen experts within the industry log predictions for Underwood to end up in Baton Rouge, but again, there is over a year until the top prep player puts pen to paper.
The LSU staff knew how important it was to get Underwood down South for a game day visit to check out the Tigers' offense. With Jayden Daniels and Co. boasting the nation's No. 1 offense, the opportunity to get a firsthand look at what this group is doing was key.
Daniels, the Heisman Trophy frontrunner, continues tearing up his final season in the purple and gold with Underwood getting the chance to link up with LSU's QB1, soak in the scenes of Death Valley and get an in-person look at the offense under Mike Denbrock.
It didn't stop there for Underwood. During his visit, he had the chance to talk with five-star LSU commit Dakorien Moore, the No. 1 wide receiver in America, along with LSU target Harlem Berry, the No. 1 running back in America.
For Underwood, Berry and Moore to have an opportunity to discuss their future plans in Baton Rouge could go a long way... Berry has a commitment date now locked in for Dec. 18 with LSU trending.
Battle Down the Stretch
With a month and a half until a decision is revealed, it's all hands on deck for LSU. Underwood will continue being a hot commodity on the trail with LSU, Michigan and Colorado turning up the heat, but the recruiting game is tricky. We could see others enter the mix as crunch time begins.
There is a dead period coming up to close out the year and it will be interesting to monitor if Underwood takes any unofficial/official visits once his high school season concludes.
Underwood is in search of his third straight Michigan state championship.
The Underwood Sweepstakes remain a battle, but the Bayou Bengals continue to be a program in position to land the services of the top player in America.
