LSU Hosting Coveted SEC Transfer Quarterback for Official Visit

The Tigers will bring in former Vanderbilt signal-caller AJ Swann for an official, heads to Baton Rouge on Friday.

The LSU football staff will host former Vanderbilt quarterback AJ Swann for an official visit to Baton Rouge this weekend.

The 6-foot-2, 225-pounder will arrive on Friday for a multi-day stay alongside LSU quarterbacks coach Joe Sloan. A player this program has had their eye on since he officially entered, the Tigers have been working behind the scenes to get an official.

Swann is fresh off of a visit to South Carolina as he continues navigating his way through the Transfer Portal process.

In his two seasons as a Commodore, Swann made 15 appearances and 12 starts. He started in all six games he played in during the 2023 season, tallying 1,457 passing yards and 12 touchdowns with only seven interceptions.

Entering the 2023 season, Swann was tabbed as Vanderbilt's starting signal-caller before an injury sidelined him for the remainder of the season.

Now, after making the decision to depart Nashville, he's become a top name in the quarterback market.

A look into a pair of offensive weapons on LSU's radar:

Remington Strickland: Offensive Lineman

Former Texas A&M offensive lineman Remington Strickland entered the NCAA Transfer Portal last week and has quickly become a hot commodity in the market.

Strickland, one of the top prospects in the 2021 class, reeled in an offer from LSU over the weekend.

The coveted offensive lineman has also received offers from Houston, Cal, Colorado State, Kansas, UTSA, Illinois, Boston College, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Arizona State and SMU.

Strickland, a versatile, dynamic player who can play both guard and center at his next destination, will remain a key player in the portal with the Tigers making their push.

LSU has begun making moves in the portal. It's clear defense is of the utmost importance, but a few offers have been dished out on offense as well.

Zavion Thomas: Priority Target

Mississippi State wide receiver Zavion Thomas announced his intentions to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal last Tuesday after two years with the Bulldogs' program.

Now, the Louisiana native is back on the market with LSU showing immediate attention to the elite wideout and return specialist. Thomas took a visit to Baton Rouge on Monday for an unofficial with his family.

Thomas is a player we expect the Tigers to handle sooner rather than later. He'll be a hot commodity in the portal, but LSU is expected to put a full court press on him.

After a 2023 season where he totaled 503 yards on 40 receptions, Thomas could be a key piece to what LSU builds next season. Keep tabs on the Louisiana native.

The Other Targets:

Will Shepphard - Committed to Colorado

Ja'Mori Maclin - Committed to Kentucky
