LSU Hosts Pair of Alabama Commitments for a Visit

Tigers bring in two Crimson Tide pledges, have their foot on the gas to flip them from Nick Saban's program.

Brian Kelly and his coaching staff have their foot on the gas for a number of the top prospects across the country. Whether it be the 2024 or 2025 cycle, this program is showing no signs of slowing down as they build for the future.

Over the weekend, LSU hosted a pair of Alabama commitments in 2024 linebacker Sterling Dixon and 2025 wide receiver Ryan Williams. Kelly has a vision of bringing the best of the best to Baton Rouge, even if it means he has to dip into the talent pool of players committed elsewhere.

Both Sterling and Williams made the trip down to Death Valley, and for Sterling, it marked the ninth visit he has made to LSU since his recruitment took off.

Despite being committed to the Crimson Tide, the Tigers aren’t taking their foot off the gas as they pursue the coveted prospect.

A dive into where things stand for both recruits:

Sterling Dixon - 2024 Linebacker

Dixon, an Alabama native, has envisioned himself suiting up for the Crimson Tide his entire life, which led to the dynamic prospect committing to Alabama in December. When he announced his pledge, the Tigers turned up the heat even more.

LSU remains in the ear of Dixon with a few months remaining until National Signing Day. A player who will certainly enroll early, LSU has a handful of months to go in their pursuit of flipping the coveted linebacker.

The playstyle of Dixon resembles that of LSU star Harold Perkins. He can play sideline-to-sideline as a linebacker but can also hover over the edge. With a defensive coordinator of Matt House’s caliber taking a hands-on approach with his players, it could benefit a guy like Dixon, but it’ll be a process attempting to flip him.

If you ask any player committed to the Tigers in their 2024 recruiting class, they'll mention the importance of adding Dixon. A versatile defensive piece who makes his presence felt on each snap, the electrifying linebacker is at the top of LSU's wish list.

After another productive visit in the Bayou State, LSU certainly made an impression, but time will tell if the Tigers can stand out even more over the next few months. Another school to monitor will be Auburn.

Ryan Williams - 2025 Wide Receiver

Williams, a Top 5 prospect in the 2025 class, committed to Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide back in October. As just a sophomore, he shut the process down and revealed his pledge, but it hasn’t stopped programs for pushing for the dynamic athlete.

Cortez Hankton and the Tigers extended an offer to Williams in May, and less than one month after sending one his way, LSU got him on campus. He’s become one of the most coveted players in the 2025 class after bolstering his status to No. 3 overall.

The Tigers are pursuing playmakers in the cycle, and with a significant amount of time until Williams puts pen to paper, LSU will be making a big-time push for one of the top prospects in America.

Of note, the No. 2 quarterback in the country, George MacIntyre, made his way to Baton Rouge over the weekend where the two had some time to bond on their visit. MacIntrye has been in Death Valley a few times this year, accompanying a few 2025 prospects over the weekend.
