Anyone thinking the bye week would affect the status of LSU’s recent ascension to the No. 1 spot in the AP ranking was sorely mistaken.

The Tigers remain the No. 1 team in the country, officially setting up a one vs two matchup with Alabama on Saturday afternoon in Tuscaloosa.

It will be only the second time of the decade that the country’s top-two teams go head-to-head during the regular season, the last of which came during the 2011 season when LSU defeated Alabama 9-6 in a game heralded the “Game of the Century.”

All eyes in Tuscaloosa will be on the ankle of quarterback Tua Tagovailoa this week as the junior is a “game time decision” to play against LSU, though the growing suspicion is he’ll be ready come game time.

After knocking off No. 6 Florida Saturday, Georgia climbed right back into the thick of things, moving up to No. 6 while the Gators slipped to the No. 10 spot.

The only other SEC team rounding out the top-25 is Auburn coming in at No. 12.
