LSU QB Jayden Daniels Hosts Trio of Tigers for Workout in California

Daniels and Co. got in reps during spring break, former Tiger Brian Thomas Jr. joins them.

Former LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels continues impacting the program both on and off the field after hosting a trio of current Tigers during this week's spring break.

Daniels flew out current Bayou Bengals Rickie Collins, CJ Daniels and Chris Hilton Jr. for a throwing session in California.

Collins, a redshirt freshman signal-caller, developed a bond with Daniels during his freshman campaign. Daniels stated that Collins' cool, calm demeanor reminds him a lot of himself during an interview last fall.

Now, Collins is reaping the benefits of his relationship with Daniels after the two got in extra work this week out West.

Joining both Daniels and Collins were wide receivers Chris Hilton Jr. and CJ Daniels. Hilton, a veteran for the Tigers, looks to break out of his shell in 2024 with Garrett Nussmeier slinging him the rock.

For [CJ] Daniels, the first-year Tiger transferred to Baton Rouge after departing Liberty this offseason. The 1,000-yard receiver looks to make an impact with the Bayou Bengals this fall in Death Valley.

A member of the past also joined the quartet of Tigers in California this week: Brian Thomas Jr.

Thomas flew out West for a throwing session with his Heisman quarterback while also continuing his relationship with the current Tigers.

Brian Kelly has taken pride in his current team after stating that this is a player-led team. Now, he's seeing his players get in extra reps during spring break with the program spread across the country during their week off.

“I’ve always said when it’s a player-led football team you’re always going to be in much better situation than if the coaches have to lead everything," Kelly said last week. "This is the closest that I’ve had in my time here at LSU that this is a player-led football team. Those are good signs and we’re trying to get the football activities, the technical and tactical work done. Giving our kids a sense of what we’re building in terms of an identity. Each year’s a new year so building an identity on offense and defense and the player led team and now doing it within a football organization.”
