LSU RB Trey Holly Claims He Is '100% Innocent' After Arrest

LSU running back Trey Holly and two others were arrested on Thursday in connection to a shooting at a Union Parish apartment complex last weekend.

The shooting left two people injured in Holly's hometown of Farmerville (La.) with the second-year running back now facing three felony charges.

Holly was charged on Thursday with one count of attempted second-degree murder, one count of aggravated criminal damage to property and one count of illegal use of a weapon, sources told LSU Country.

Now, Holly has released his first statement since the news broke on Thursday.

“I have been falsely identified, accused, and arrested,” Holly wrote in a social media post Saturday night. “I am 100% innocent and the people that know me know this is not my character at all. I was not involved in the incident at all.”

“I was at home, which is where the incident took place,” Holly wrote in his first public comments since the arrest. “I turned myself in because I was notified of an arrest warrant and I wanted to fully cooperate. Due to this being an ongoing investigation I cannot give many details.”

The sophomore running back turned himself in on Thursday and was booked at the Union Parish Detention Center while the investigation continues.

“To my fans, I’m sorry for the confusion but you guys know this is not me at all,” Holly wrote. “I will come back better than ever and I look forward to proving my innocence.”

Sources familiar with the situation anticipate "additional arrests" will come to light soon with others reportedly involved.

The incident occurred at the Union Villa Apartments in Farmerville on Friday, Feb. 9, sources say.

One woman was shot three times, which left her in critical condition, The Advocate reports. Additionally, a man was shot once in the lower leg.

According to The Advocate, "The Union Parish Sheriff’s Office, which conducted the investigation, determined at the time three shooters fired multiple rounds. UPSO found the shooting stemmed from earlier altercations at an apartment complex. There were “several” unnamed people of interest identified as an investigation continued this week."

The LSU football program shortly released a statement for the situation:

“We are aware that a student-athlete has been arrested in relation to a shooting in Union Parish. This student-athlete has been suspended indefinitely from all team activities, in accordance with departmental policies. Out of respect for the judicial process, we will have no further comment.”

Now, the situation remains ongoing as Holly, a sophomore running back for the Tigers, goes through the legal process.

Holly rushed 11 times for 110 yards and one touchdown in a loaded running back room last season.

He was named Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week after rushing for 91 yards — the majority on a 67-yard touchdown — in his debut against Army on Oct. 21. Holly ultimately redshirted in his first season with the Tigers.
