LSU Recruiting Roundup: Tigers Trending For Priority Targets

The Tigers could see the next few dominoes fall soon, monster week ahead.

LSU is in the midst of a monster run on the recruiting trail and they could see more dominoes fall their way sooner rather than later.

Brian Kelly and his staff have seen six commitments over the last three weeks, and after a successful Bayou Splash recruiting event, their victories continued on the trail.

The Tigers reeled in commitments from Ory Williams, Joseph Cryer and Jelani Watkins over the last seven days. Now, more could be revealing their pledges.

Here are three 2024 targets trending LSU’s way:

Colin Simmons - No. 5 Overall Prospect

The five-star, No. 1 EDGE in America is fresh off of a three-day stay in Baton Rouge where he quickly began trending the Tigers way. After the visit, he revealed a decision date on August 10 with LSU, Texas and Miami rounding out his final three schools.

The last few weeks have seen the recruiting battle for Simmons get hot between LSU and Texas, and with a decision date now in the fold, things will only ramp up even more.

The crystal balls have begun falling LSU’s way as well with On3’s Shea Dixon and Billy Embody logging their predictions along with 247’s Steve Wiltfong. Wiltfong has had his prediction in for quite some time, keeping his decision the same as it stands.

Simmons is the No. 1 target on LSU’s radar, and with a decision date revealed following a visit, it’s a positive sign for the Tigers. In what will be an LSU vs. Texas battle down the stretch, Thursday at 2pm CT will provide the answer the entire nation has been waiting for.

Caden Durham - No. 8 Running Back

The four-star, Top 100 prospect in America is fresh off of a visit to Death Valley where he spent four days down South. Alongside Durham for the trip? Colin Simmons, Durham’s teammate at Duncanville.

Durham is the lone running back the Tigers are recruiting in the 2024 class, and with Frank Wilson leading the charge, this program likes its chances in securing the prized back.

It’s been an LSU vs. Oklahoma battle for Durham’s services over the last few weeks. Durham’s mother is a Sooner, and with her ties to the program, it’s helped their chances, but the Tigers continue swinging.

Durham will be a two-sport athlete at the next level on both the gridiron and track. With LSU’s program being so successful, it’s also helped elevate their chances in gaining a commitment for the Texas native.

Now, with a decision date penciled in, we’ll know Durham’s decision sooner rather than later. He was scheduled to reveal his decision on August 25th, but after his trip to Baton Rouge, Durham moved his commitment date up a few weeks to August 10th alongside Simmons.

Prospects to Monitor:

Dominick McKinley - No. 1 Player in Louisiana

LSU is playing catch up in McKinley’s recruitment. He’s been crystal balled to Texas with the Longhorns keeping their foot on the gas for the top player in Louisiana.

If a decision was to be made today, it may not go the Tigers way, but there remains time to get back in the fold.

McKinley took a visit to Baton Rouge for the Bayou Splash recruiting event where it was another positive trip to LSU. A visit that helped the Tigers chances, Brian Kelly’s program isn’t out of this one.

With a decision looking to be made before McKinley starts his senior year, it could be coming sooner rather than later. As the Tigers play catch up, no matter what decision is made, this program will be pushing for the coveted defensive lineman until Signing Day.
