LSU Recruiting Wish List: The 2024 Big Board

The Tigers host their Bayou Splash event this month, the latest on a few prospects.

Brian Kelly has worked his magic on the recruiting trail this offseason, and with the July dead period ending soon, it’s full steam ahead for LSU’s “Bayou Splash” event at the end of the month.

On July 28, this program will host its annual event in Baton Rouge. The biggest recruiting event of the summer, the star-studded list continues growing by the day.

There are four major targets Kelly and Co. will be looking to get in town as this program continues putting the final touches on its 2024 class.

Here’s a look into the four prospects on the “wish list” that LSU must get in Baton Rouge for the final weekend of July:

Colin Simmons - EDGE - No. 1 Player in Texas

The five-star EDGE has been a name on the national scene for quite some time, and with a commitment date coming soon, it’s imperative the Tigers keep their foot on the gas for the Top 10 prospect in the 2024 class.

There have been rumblings that Simmons will be in town for the Bayou Splash event at the end of the month, sources tell LSU Country, and it’ll be key this coaching staff locks him in for the biggest recruiting event of the summer.

Simmons has been coined a “generational talent" by several recruiting services, and with the Texas Longhorns being one of the team’s to beat, LSU continues working their magic.

In what could be a battle between Texas and LSU down the stretch for the coveted EDGE, the Tigers have the chance to take a step in the right direction in his recruitment if able to get him in Baton Rouge.

Dominick McKinley - Defensive End - No. 1 Player in Louisiana

The five-star defensive lineman continues trimming his list ahead of his senior season with the Tigers being in the fold. Along with LSU, Oklahoma, Georgia, Texas, Ohio State and Texas A&M made the cut in his final six schools.

Kelly and Co. will have their work cut out for them in this one. The top prep player in Louisiana, the drastic growth McKinley has made over the last 14 months has been significant. Now, as he prepares for his final season of high school ball, a decision could come soon.

The 6-foot-6, 285-pound defensive lineman has been a high-riser over the last few months from a rankings perspective as well. A Lafayette, La. native, he’s a player who is at the top of the Tigers’ 2024 board.

McKinley has been on LSU’s campus twice this year and will certainly make his way down to Baton Rouge this fall with the Tigers looking to continue solidifying their position in his recruitment.

For LSU to get McKinley on campus for the Bayou Splash event would be tremendous. A day where the Tigers will have their high-priority targets in town, it would go a long way in McKinley’s recruitment.

Wardell Mack - Cornerback - No. 4 Player in Louisiana

Mack’s recruitment continues to be a rollercoaster ride. LSU has felt in control for most of the offseason, but the Texas Longhorns remain a serious threat in his recruiting process as the summer winds down.

The top cornerback in Louisiana, Mack is a high-priority target as July moves on. With the Bayou Splash event going down later this month, LSU must get Mack on campus. A player who would be the cherry on top to a stellar cornerback core in the 2024 class, Mack remains at the top of LSU’s Big Board.

LSU and Texas remain serious contenders with Florida and Florida State rounding out his Top 4 schools. The John Ehret (Marrero, La.) product will be a hot commodity on the recruiting trail heading into the fall.

Tylen Singleton - Linebacker - No. 5 Player in Louisiana

Singleton’s recruitment has been relatively quiet. The Many, La. native has kept his process close to vest, but with major programs pushing for the top linebacker in the state, he’s a big-time name on the market.

Along with LSU, we’ve seen Arkansas Tennessee and Texas A&M jump into his recruitment. For LSU, it’s the same situation as Mack. If this program can get Singleton on campus for their Bayou Splash event at the end of July, the visit could go a long way in his recruiting process moving forward. We’ve heard there is a chance Singleton makes his way in for the event.

The Tigers should get an official visit from Singleton later this fall/winter as he narrows his list in order to make a decision. The elite-level linebacker comes from a great program in Many with some serious starpower being developed.
