LSU to Face Oklahoma in SEC Debut Season, Full 2024 Slate Revealed

In this story:
Brian Kelly came to Baton Rouge in search of competition. He had goals to accomplish and wanted a change of scenery. Now in the SEC, he’s certainly facing the top teams in college football on a weekly basis.
In year one of the Kelly era, the Tigers exceeded expectations, punching their ticket to the SEC Championship Game in Atlanta. Fast forward to year two and it’ll be a championship or bust mentality for this group.
After the 2023 season, it gets spicier in the SEC with the arrival of Oklahoma and Texas. In their debut seasons in 2024, LSU will face Oklahoma in Tiger Stadium, immediately becoming one of the top matchups of the entire season.
Who else will the Tigers face in the SEC?
The opponents hitting the road and coming to Death Valley in 2024:
- Oklahoma
- Alabama
- Vanderbilt
- Ole Miss
It’ll be quite the introduction for the Sooners as they hit the road to face Kelly’s squad in what is sure to be a rowdy atmosphere.
As usual, Alabama and Ole Miss remain on the schedule where the two programs will continue their annual matchups. Along with the pair of rivals coming to Tiger Stadium, Vanderbilt will make their way to LSU for a matchup.

The non-conference opponents:
- USC
- Nicholls State
- UCLA
- South Alabama
LSU vs. USC will be one of the more intriguing season openers come September 2024. The Lincoln Riley led Trojans will be eager to showcase their game against an SEC foe where the two will face off in Las Vegas.
As for the UCLA matchup, it’ll be a revenge game for the Tigers after dropping their previous showdown against the Bruins where the two will face off in Death Valley.
Who was left off?
LSU will not face Auburn for the first time since 1991. The new age of the SEC brings different opponents where a few rivalries will be left out of the mix. Along with the Tigers not taking on Auburn, LSU will not play Mississippi State for the first time since 1943 where the Bulldogs didn’t field a team that year due to World War II.
The detailed schedule with dates will be revealed at a later time.
