The LSU football staff held another busy weekend of official visitors in Baton Rouge during the final stretch before the recruiting Dead Period kicks in on Monday.

From current 2024 commitments to Transfer Portal targets, Brian Kelly and Co. had their hands full over the last three days.

Now, the dust is beginning to settle with prospects departing Death Valley after another productive week on "The Trail".

A look into the visitors and a few tidbits:

AJ Swann: Vanderbilt Transfer

The LSU football staff hosted former Vanderbilt quarterback AJ Swann for an official visit to Baton Rouge this weekend.

The 6-foot-2, 225-pounder arrived on Friday for a multi-day stay alongside LSU quarterbacks coach Joe Sloan. A player this program has had their eye on since he officially entered, the Tigers have been working behind the scenes to get an official.

Swann is fresh off of a visit this week to South Carolina as he continues navigating his way through the Transfer Portal process.

In his two seasons as a Commodore, Swann made 15 appearances and 12 starts. He started in all six games he played in during the 2023 season, tallying 1,457 passing yards and 12 touchdowns with only seven interceptions.

Entering the 2023 season, Swann was tabbed as Vanderbilt's starting signal-caller before an injury sidelined him for the remainder of the season.

Now, after making the decision to depart Nashville, he's become a top name in the quarterback market. After visiting both the Gamecocks and Tigers, a decision could come sooner rather than later.

Decamerion Richardson: Mississippi State Transfer

Brian Kelly and the LSU Tigers have shown their desire to reach out to Louisiana players in the NCAA Transfer Portal. On Wednesday, another Bayou State native entered the free agent market in Mississippi State's Decamerion Richardson.

The Bossier City product spent four seasons in Starkville and will exercise his COVID year for a final season of eligibility.

A cornerback who has received significant interest, Richardson is at the top of LSU's Transfer Portal Target List.

Now, he's in Baton Rouge for a multi-day stay after arriving on Saturday. Richardson is fresh off of a visit to Oregon with the Bayou Bengals now getting a crack at the veteran defensive back.

Richardson appeared in 45 games at Mississippi State, making 26 starts as one of the SEC West’s top cornerbacks. He tallied 177 tackles through four seasons with a sack, two tackles for loss, a fumble recovery and 10 passes broken up.

It's no secret LSU is pursuing several defensive backs in the Transfer Portal. After securing a commitment from former Texas A&M safety Jardin Gilbert on Friday, there remains work to be done and the LSU coaching staff is getting it done behind the scenes.

The Tigers are hoping to wrap this one up sooner rather than later as their pursuit of the Louisiana native ramps up on Sunday.

Coen Echols: Four-Star OL Target

The former Texas A&M commit made his way to Baton Rouge for an official visit this weekend with offensive line coach Brad Davis and Co.

A player the Tigers have kept tabs on for a significant amount of time, this program has seen their push intensify over the last few weeks.

Despite an official visit wrapping up on Sunday, it remains a numbers game for LSU as they monitor the 85-man scholarship limit.

For Echols, he's a player the Tigers could utilize moving forward, but it remains a battle for his services. This program must navigate the scholarship count as well as another SEC program making their push.

The 6-foot-3, 290-pounder out of Texas has been wined and dined this fall by several programs with Auburn and LSU becoming two of his finalists. Look for a decision to made soon with the Tigers battling against Auburn.
