Recruiting Update: Who Could Be Next For LSU Football?

The Tigers are prepared for a major weekend on the trail, but who could be next for this program?

LSU football is prepared to heat up on the recruiting trail as they lock in for a major weekend of visitors. Baton Rouge will be the place to be once again as Brian Kelly’s program hosts its Bayou Splash event.

The pool party will welcome several high-priority 2024 and 2025 prospects to Death Valley and this program is dialed in for a star-studded event.

But LSU is also ready to solidify its 2024 class in a big way. The visitors list this weekend will be monstrous with a handful of “must get” recruits heading to town.

LSU gained a commitment from Many (La.) linebacker Tylen Singleton on Saturday, giving the Tigers another key piece to its 2024 class, but there will be more pledges sooner rather than later as the summer winds down.

Who could be next for LSU on the trail?

Ory Williams - Offensive Tackle (2024)

Williams quickly became a top target for offensive line coach Brad Davis with LSU searching for more big guys up front. The Texas native has taken his fair share of visits including an official to Baton Rouge in June.

Along with formally visiting the Tigers, Williams made his way to Florida, Oklahoma State and Texas A&M for officials this summer. It was a busy June for the fast-rising tackle who could see his high three-star status boost to four stars sooner rather than later.

At 6-foot-6, 320 pounds, Williams has the ideal physical makeup of an SEC lineman and programs continue taking notice. Can LSU close the deal on Williams and add him to the 2024 class?

Cai Bates - Cornerback (2024)

Bates made his way across the country this summer while taking official visit after official visit, and for LSU, they received the final one in June. Along with taking the trek to Baton Rouge, the Florida native also visited Tennessee, Alabama and Florida State.

All signs point to an LSU vs. Tennessee battle here down the stretch with a decision date set for July 26th at 6:30 pm ET from Edgewater High in Orlando, Fla.

The four-star cornerback has risen up the rankings ahead of his senior campaign. A Top 100 prospect, and Top 10 cornerback in his class, Bates would be a monster get for this program as they turn up the heat.

The Volunteers appeared to be separating themselves from the 6-foot-1, 180-pound stud, but now LSU has shown life down the stretch.

With an announcement coming on Wednesday, can Brian Kelly and the Tigers get over the hump to secure the coveted corner?

Caden Durham - Running Back (2024)

Durham will make his way to Baton Rouge on Friday for LSU’s Bayou Splash event along with his teammate Colin Simmons. Simmons, a Top 10 prospect nationally, is close with Durham, making their appearance at the event that much more important.

For Durham, it’s been an LSU vs. Oklahoma battle all summer with the coveted running back making his way to both schools. A player who will also run track at the next level, both programs are selling him in that area as well.

Durham will reveal his college decision on August 25 and LSU continues keeping its foot on the gas for his services.

With Frank Wilson leading the charge for the Tigers down the stretch, and another visit to Death Valley happening this weekend, can LSU take that next step and leave an impact on Durham before another recruiting dead period?
