Business is booming in Baton Rouge when it comes to the recruitment side of things. All attention is on the LSU Tigers, and after Kim Mulkey’s squad took home a National Championship, Death Valley is simply the place to be in all aspects.

The culture is shifting at a rapid pace, and as the 2024 recruiting cycle heats up, all sports are beginning to see an upward trajectory. For the football program, they’re fresh off of a successful first season under Brian Kelly, which has them succeeding off the field as well.

This recruitment department continues to go above and beyond in order to get the best of the best on campus. Last weekend was much of the same after another star studded visitors list was in Baton Rouge.

From 2024 commitments to dynamic targets for the future, it was another “A-list” event to be at.

A look into a few recruits reactions from the weekend:

The 2024 Commitments

Ahmad Breaux - EDGE - 2024 Commit

With high-priority targets on campus, Kelly and Co. made it important to get face time with the Ruston product. Breaux, who is a fresh commitment to the purple and gold, had another great visit to Baton Rouge where the Tigers made him feel right at home.

The 6-foot-3, 255 pound EDGE has been on a steady rise throughout high school, but a productive junior campaign has seen his recruitment take off. Breaux added an SEC offer from Missouri earlier this year as his rise continues.

A player of his caliber gives the Tigers’ 2024 recruiting class a boost in the right direction, and after securing 4-star linebacker Kolaj Cobbins the same weekend, we could see this class continue soaring.

Tayvion Galloway - Tight End - 2024 Commit

he 6-foot-5, 230-pounder has all the tools to compete in the SEC with the developmental skills this coaching staff attains. Kelly has been working to add depth to their tight end room, and after a successful 2023 cycle, to bring in a player of Galloway’s caliber long-term is an immediate win.

Galloway has proven to be a threat as a blocking tight end and has shown flashes of his soft hands when becoming a pass catcher. Preparing for his senior campaign, he has all the tools to develop into a lethal threat for this LSU offense when his time comes.

Khayree Lee - Offensive Line - 2024 Commit

The 6-foot-5, 330-pounder blew up during his junior season, and as time goes on, Lee continues to improve at a rapid pace. Kelly has been working to develop relationships early in the 2024 and 2025 cycles, clearly making an impression on Lee when he committed back in November.

“2024 Ehret OL Khayree Lee continues to impress as a powerful, agile offensive lineman playing left tackle for the Patriots,” On3 National Recruiting Analyst Sam Spiegelman said. “Lee, who is down to 300-something-pounds, bends well and plays big with several knockdowns under his belt, especially with a running QB behind center.”

The Targets

Harlem Berry - Running Back - 2025 Target

Already standing at 6-foot, 175-pounds, Berry’s body is filling out before he even takes a snap as a junior. The St. Martins Episcopal product was in Baton Rouge over the weekend as he continues making his rounds. Tabbed the No. 1 player in the state for the 2025 cycle, LSU will certainly be in his ear as time goes on.

Berry will be a name to monitor as his recruitment heats up. A local talent right down the road from the Tigers, head coach Brian Kelly and his staff will certainly be monitoring the development of the blazing 4.38 speed Berry attains.

Aeron Burrell - Kicker - 2024 Target/Commit

Burrell took a visit to LSU over the weekend where he ultimately felt at home, committing to Brian Kelly and the Tigers. An elite-level talent that the Tigers will put in their back pocket for the future, he adds a new element to this 2024 class: special teams.

LSU certainly struggled in this area in 2022, and adding a player of Burrell’s caliber will only help them in the long run as they look to establish consistency for the long haul.

Bredell Richardson - Wide Receiver - 2024 Target
